Thanks, Charlie. Very interesting looking at these figures. Seems to me that the % of young (jake) harvests was down considerably. Do you have any idea if this was the case and how the 2014 harvest compares to year’s past in this category? THANKS-

Thanks for the info, Charlie! -You are a wealth of turkey data. I figured this was the case, and don’t think that it is a good indicator for next spring, but hope that this spring’s broods pull through well.

You’re welcome Luke. I agree, the ratio of adult toms will have nothing to do with next spring’s population. Most of them will not survive until then. This fall season should be really good for those hunters who prefer tagging long beards.

I’m frequently seeing hens with 6-9 poults each so its looking good. This morning the toms were gobbling in earnest.

What’s it like where you are?

Seeing a fair amount of jakes this spring (’15) in contrast to last year(’14)… The roost gobbling numbers really seems to be slow considering the weather patterns we’ve had across the state the past 4-5 weeks now. Have you heard or seen anything in reference to where Season A and Season B’s figures ended up yet re success numbers? (Probably not published until the end of the season has drawn, but figured I’d check with you…)

Good luck hunting here the rest of the spring.

That’s what being reported from all over Wisconsin and down into NE Iowa. I don’t have the 2015 spring stats but will check to see if they’re available. A lot of hunters are going to need to be willing to shoot a jake this spring unless they enjoy tag soup.
